Setup guide

On WordPress 7.0 and later, both editions connect to AI through Settings → Connectors. Check which edition you installed under Plugins, then follow the matching steps.

SupportZiip Standard (1.0.13 and later)

  1. Install and activate SupportZiip Standard, then activate your license under SupportZiip → PayZiip License.
  2. Add your AI key in Settings → Connectors (WordPress 7.0+): OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude or OpenRouter. Managed hosts can use a wp-config.php constant or environment variable: OPENAI_API_KEY, GOOGLE_API_KEY, ANTHROPIC_API_KEY or OPENROUTER_API_KEY.
  3. In SupportZiip → Settings, choose the provider and model, an optional fallback, and your usage limits.
  4. In SupportZiip → Assistants, create an assistant, add pages, PDFs and CSVs, and place it on your site.

Standard never stores AI keys; it reads them from WordPress.

SupportZiip Lite (free, 1.5.10 and later)

  1. Install SupportZiip Lite from Plugins → Add New (search “SupportZiip”) and activate it.
  2. Add your OpenAI or Google Gemini key in Settings → Connectors (WordPress 7.0+), or in SupportZiip → Settings on older versions.
  3. In SupportZiip → Settings, choose the provider and model and save.
  4. Create an assistant under SupportZiip → Assistants and publish it with its shortcode.

On WordPress 7.0+, Lite does not store your key either.

Upgrading from an older version?

On WordPress 7.0 or later, keys saved by earlier SupportZiip versions move into Settings → Connectors automatically. They are removed from SupportZiip only after the move is confirmed. Moving from Lite to Standard keeps your assistants and conversations.

Who pays for AI usage?

Both editions use your own AI provider account, and the provider bills you directly. SupportZiip includes no AI credits and does not resell AI usage. The usage limits help you cap spend.

Using SupportZiip Cloud instead?

Log in at cloud.supportziip.com, create your assistant, list your website address, and paste the one-line embed code on your site. The Onboarding and Cloud Support assistants can walk you through it.
